Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Parolina — the browser extension, the website, and the account portal. By using Parolina, you agree to them.

1. Who we are

Parolina is operated by Zaur Bahramov, as an individual (sole operator), based in Turin (TO), Piedmont, Italy (PO 10048) (“Parolina”, “we”, “us”). You can contact us at support@parolina.app.

2. The service

Parolina helps you save words and phrases from webpages and learn them with translation and spaced-repetition review. The core extension is free and stores your data locally in your browser. Optional account features (cloud sync) and a paid Parolina Pro subscription are described below.

3. Your account

Some features require an account. You are responsible for the email address you use to sign in and for activity under your account. Sign-in is passwordless (a one-time email code or “Sign in with Google”).

To create an account you must be at least 14— the age at which you can consent to the processing of your personal data under Italian law. If you are under 14, a parent or legal guardian must provide that consent on your behalf. Parolina's local, account-free features are not restricted in this way. You can delete your account at any time from the portal or by contacting us.

4. Parolina Pro subscriptions

Parolina Pro is offered as a recurring subscription (monthly or annual). When you subscribe, you authorise us and our payment provider to charge the applicable fee, plus any tax, to your chosen payment method at the start of each billing period until you cancel.

  • Auto-renewal: Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period at the then-current price unless you cancel before the renewal date.
  • Price changes: We may change subscription prices; we will give you reasonable advance notice, and changes apply from your next billing period.
  • Cancellation: You can cancel any time from the account portal. Your Pro features remain active until the end of the period you have already paid for; we do not charge you again after you cancel.

5. Payments, seller of record & tax

Payments are processed by Stripe. Where applicable, payments, taxes, invoices, and refunds may be handled by Stripe Managed Payments acting as merchant of record for the transaction — meaning Stripe may be the seller of record and responsible for collecting and remitting applicable sales tax / VAT for that sale. Prices are shown in EUR and may be exclusive or inclusive of tax depending on your location, as shown at checkout. We do not receive or store your full card details.

6. Refunds & EU right of withdrawal

We offer a 14-day refund: if you are not satisfied with Parolina Pro, contact us within 14 days of your purchase (or of a renewal charge) and we will refund it. This sits alongside your statutory rights as an EU/EEA consumer, including the right of withdrawal for online purchases, which are unaffected by these terms. To request a refund, email support@parolina.app.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use Parolina to break the law or infringe others' rights;
  • attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer for a competing service, overload, or gain unauthorised access to our systems;
  • resell or redistribute the service without our permission;
  • abuse translation, sync, or feedback features in a way that harms other users or our providers.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that materially or repeatedly breach these terms.

8. Your content

The vocabulary and notes you create are yours. You grant us only the limited permission needed to store and sync that content to provide the service (for example, when you enable cloud sync). We do not claim ownership of your content and do not use it for advertising.

9. Third-party services

Parolina relies on third parties (including Google Translate, Supabase, Brevo, Stripe, and Cloudflare). Your use of features that depend on them is also subject to their terms, and we are not responsible for their services. See our Privacy Policy for how data is shared.

10. Disclaimers

Parolina is provided “as is”. Translations and learning features are provided for study purposes and may contain errors; do not rely on them where accuracy is critical. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by law.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of data that you could have avoided by using Parolina's export/backup features. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the total amount you paid us for Parolina Pro in the 12 months before the claim. Your statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Parolina evolves. If we make material changes we will give reasonable notice via the website or extension. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.

13. Governing law & disputes

These terms are governed by Italian law, and disputes are subject to the competent Italian courts, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence.
